Hey there! This is Sebastian from Bogotá, Colombia. I’m writing this from my flat here in Valencia, Spain. I managed to get here through a hiring process to work at a company in the grocery market sector. I hope to talk more about that process in future articles 🤞🏼. For now, I wanted to share how I've been feeling about this change.
About two or three months ago, I made the decision to move to Spain to pursue one of my dreams as a software engineer and work abroad. Even though I had enough time to prepare for this plan, I still sometimes find myself thinking, "I’m shocked, I haven’t fully realized this change." In fact, before moving, I was wondering why people around me were so excited about it when I wasn’t sure how I should feel.
As a foreigner, I had to figure out things related to documentation. As of now, I can say I’ve managed to sort all of that out. Once I got that handled, I found I had more time, mental space, and energy to think about how I want my life to look.
To be honest, sometimes I’m afraid. However, I believe my determination is stronger than my fears. I want to make the most of this opportunity, second by second—not just as a professional, but as a personal experience.
So far, I’d like to say goodbye in Valencià , the local language:
¡Que vagi bé!
